ASK AND YOU WILL RECEIVE, AND YOUR JOY WILL
BE COMPLETE JOHN 16:24
A man whose heart was heavy and whose spirit
was dull decided to go to the doctor in the hope that he would be prescribed
something to ‘pick him up’. The doctor decided that the man needed to be
cheered up and so suggested that he should treat himself to a night out at the
circus, particularly as a very funny clown was performing. The man replied to
the doctor, “But I am that clown!”
People who smile, joke, and make others
laugh, are not necessarily themselves happy people. While a smile is pleasant,
a joke funny and a laugh good, there is so much more to happiness. But who can
find it?
One famous entertainer was asked during an
interview how many truly happy days he had experienced during his lifetime. He
replied, “I’m not sure, but they can be counted on both hands!”
Joy and happiness are more foundational than
superficial and he, who finds them, finds true treasure.
Happy is the man who doesn’t follow the
advice of the ungodly. (Psalm 1:1)
Happy is the man whose sins are forgiven.
(Psalm 32:1)
Happy is the man who makes the Lord his
trust. (Psalm 40:3)
Happy are those who keep His law and seek
Him with all their hearts. (Psalm 119:2)
Happy are those whose strength is in God.
(Psalm 84:5)
Happy are the people whose God is the Lord.
(Psalm 144:15)
REMEMBER IT'S ABOUT JESUS!
