Youth for Christ

North Texas Leadership Training for Christ Convention
Written by Bro. Ernie Seay

Let’s use LTC for short. This year and every year following, the LTC took place on Easter weekend. This was the 20th anniversary of the LTC in the DFW area. In 1989, the first LTC convention was held right here in our backyard; Dallas, Texas. There are 3 sites in the DFW area. It has grown from 850 students to over 6000 in 2007. At the DFW Hyatt site, where Greenville Avenue participated in its 3rd convention, housed over 1500 students. There are 10 LTC conventions across the states.

The purpose of NTLTC is to “plan, organize, promote, and execute programs that assist young Christians to develop their knowledge of the Bible and biblical principles, enhance their communication and leadership skills, and orient their energies and abilities to areas of Christian service”
We had close to 50 students participating this year. Our Youth chorus and Pre-Teen chorus did an outstanding job! We also had fantastic representation in events like speech, drama, bible reading, scrap booking and bulletin board displays. Gold and Silver medals were earned from these events. It took a lot of hard work, focus, an awareness of their talents and dedicated coaches/directors/teachers.

The students conducted themselves in a manner that brought about a lot of positive feedback from the LTC coordinator, judges, parents and other students. We are so proud of all of our participants!
Next year, we want to double our participation. There are about 30 events to choose from so I’m sure our students will find something that catches their eye. The next event takes place on April 10-12, 2009. We will begin preparing for the 2009 event in September. This will ensure our students have ample time to really put forth their best efforts. Please join us as we embrace next year’s theme: Light-Life-Word.Top of Page
